Scam of the Week: Phone Scam Impersonates Sheriff’s Office

The bad guys have a new phone scam, and it’s vicious.They call you and claim to be from the local sheriff’s office.Then, they inform you of a warrant that’s been issued for your arrest. As a way to “help” you out, they agree not to arrest you if you pay a fine.Don’t be tricked into paying the fine! This is a vishing (voice phishing) scam used to steal your money. Remember, no one in law enforcement will ever ask for you to make a payment over the phone. Stay aware of vishing tactics!Let's stay safe out there!Stop, Look, and Think. Don't be fooled.
